Long list: Blindness can be legal (20/200 or less) or absolute (cannot see light even). Eyes can inherit problems, get infected, traumatized and develop a host of diseases which can lower the vision such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, etc. Take your pick.
