Usually asymptomatic: Focal nodular hyperplasia is a common non-malignant (non-cancerous) liver condition. They are often found incidentally on imaging or during surgery.

Most studies have shown that people with focal nodular hyperplasia usually do not have symptoms. However, a few studies have shown that people with focal nodular hyperplasia can have abdominal discomfort or pain, or have a palpable (able to feel) mas.

Hasn't changed: The 2 mm difference is within the variability in measurement for today's imaging. The thing is almost certainly not growing. As a pathologist, I'm very familiar with FNH and its mimics. It's a non-problem. If it were serious, it would have grown. Forget about it and be thankful for good health.

Accepted Answer

Yes: If it is large enough and located in a site that would ordinary produce the pain.  It can stretch the liver capsule which is quite sensitive.  Gallstone disease is a more common cause of pain here and you'll probably want this ruled out; it tends to be colicky and less related to position.

Was biopsy directed?: Liver biopsies are performed for a variety of reasons--pre-treatment, post-transplant, assess progression of disease, evaluate known or suspected lesions. Liver fibrosis is scarring. In what context was the liver biopsy required &amp; what's your diagnosis? Are you consuming alcohol, taking birth control, have known liver pathology or hepatitis, what are your underlying co-morbidities?

No: The nodular liver lesions don't rupture.  You don't describe the pattern of your pain, or your surgical history, but gallbladder disease is a common cause of RUQ pain.

Yes: FNH is a non-disease and won't interfere with your liver function or place you in extra danger from acetaminophen. They are curious little lesions with centers shaped like stars.

Actually it can: Fnh is actually a curious event that begins with something we don't understand in the central blood vessel of the lesion, no matter how big or small. I'd not be surprised. If the radiologist is confident, then i'd urge you to go about your life and not worry about kidney cancer having recurred here.
