Fluvoxamine/Luvox is not a protein but can cause side effects like sedation, weight gain, delayed sexual climax, decreased emotion or motivation along with beneficial effects. It would help to know what the  negative "allergic" reaction(s) is/are?

Possible: Possible, may not be common. Luvox (fluvoxamine) occasionally can cause low sodium levels in the blood, and spirono-lactone can make low sodium worse.  Symptoms of low sodium can be mild like nausea, but can include lethargy, confusion, muscle spasm, weakness or unsteadiness. If you have these symptoms you should have a blood test for electrolytes.

It isnt: Luvox (fluvoxamine) is not fda approved as an antidepressant in the us because it would be too costly for the drug companies to do the studies to get this apprivoal.  Luvox (fluvoxamine) is approved for social anxiety and OCD and is also generic so there is also no financial gain to do any more studies.

: In this instance I would want clearance from the anesthesiologist as there is always a concern for the very dangerous serotonin syndrome when SSSR's like luvox interact with other medications. Your pharmacist can also shed light on this matter.

Nevertheless, if your mood is not stable, that has much greater potential for harm.  Talk to your prescribing doctor if you're contemplating conception.

However, it's not known whether Luvox (fluvoxamine) contributes to diabetes or if another factor common to both diabetes &amp; SSRI use is involved.  Regardless, you should get routine screening tests based on your age and other risk factors.
