good afternoon. in the last week i have got a prickly sensation on right side under my rib cage. you cannot feel anything of see any swelling or lumps. not gall bladder as i had mine out 40 year ago. it comes and goes all day?

: This rather vague symptom probably is caused by irritable superficial nerves in the abdominal wall. These usually resolve on their own. In the absence of pain, tenderness or any digestive symptoms, I would hold off consulting a physician or surgeon and give the symptoms a few more days of observation.

Burning pain: Nerve problem, likely from thoracic spine. Also consider costochondritis.

Very well could : Be gas  try gas x and see if it helps if you Re doing exercises could  also be musculoskeletal  even lifting baby could have strained  the muscle . Be  cAreful of how you are lifting, pulling bending and  twisting too

i had my gall bladder removed three to four years ago. a couple nights this week i have woken up with extreme burning sensation under my right rib cage that spreads to the middle and into my back. ?

May not be related: You may be getting shingles ( Herpes Zoster )  see your doctor to find out the cause and treat it .

Pain : Pain in this area is very tricky since there are many organ systems in the epigastric area and right upper quadrant of the abdomen. 
- stomach - problems such as gastroesophageal reflux, gastritis, and stomach ulcers can cause pain in these areas - usually worse with eating and worse while laying down 
- pancreas - pancreatitis, pancreatic stones/blockages can cause epigastric pain, sometimes radiating to the back 
- liver/gallbladder - hepatitis, gall stones or gall bladder disease can cause pain in the right upper quadrant
- intestinal - duodenal ulcers, infections and constipation can cause pain there because the colon loops up into that area 
- kidney - kidney stones or infections can cause pain in the right upper quadrant, though many people feel it in their backs. 
- gyne - ovarian pain from a cyst or even an infection from a sexually transmitted disease can cause pain in the right upper quadrant.

And all those are just a few of the things that could be going on. So, your best option is to be seen by a doctor and examined to determine the cause of your pain.  If your doctor is not sure what is causing your pain, you might benefit from speaking with a specialist.

Reasons to go to the er are: 
- high fever 
- bloody stool 
- bright green or bloody vomit 
- severe or worsening pain 
- difficulty breathing.

i have burning on right side under my rib cage. i have had h. pylori in past. had gall bladder tested and it is about 96% but that was 2 years ago.

Right-sided pain.: As I&#x27;m sure you are aware, there can be many causes of right-sided abdominal pain. If your last work up was two years ago, as the question suggests, you may need a more up-to-date work up performed, to see if the answer is more obvious now. I would contact your doctor as soon as you&#x27;re able to. Good work.

Pain similar?: If pain is similar it suggests you have a residual or new stone(s) in your common bile duct. Other possibilities include abscess, hematoma etc. Probably best to see the original surgeon.

See your doctor: Right upper quadrant abdominal pain can be caused by a number of conditions.  Musculoskeletal strain, liver conditions, stomach ulcers or gastritis, bile duct and gallbladder disease, among the myriad possibilities.  Your doctor would take a good history and perform a physical exam, ordering blood tests and ultrasound or xrays if necessary. Sometimes even upper endoscopy (egd) may be performed.

lump under ribs on right side gall bladder. what could this be a sign of?

Many things: A lump there may be a fatty lipoma. Unlikely to be able to feel the liver, and the gallbladder would not be felt unless there was severe gallbaldder inflammation & obstruction with severe pain and blood test abnormality. Hernias do not occur in that area. Needs an exam with a doctor to tell.

no gall bladder for 10 yrs. lately having pains in left side under ribs. and pressure wer gb shud b. what cud this b? mri turned up nothing wrong

Could be many things: The GB is on the right under your ribs, so the left sided pain is likely unrelated. If the MRI was normal, I would consider things like acid reflux/gastritis, bruised ribs/muscle pain, etc. Since there are so many possibilities, I'd suggest seeing a primary care doc for further workup. A neg MRI makes an emergency unlikely. Good luck!
