Reflux: Medical term"hydronephrosis" of the kidneys. At some point during development of kidney, the ureter(the tube that carries urine from kidney to the bladder) gets kinked & urine back flows in the kidneys.Obstetricians monitor them closely while in utero, we usually get a kidney us when baby is born to rule it out and be sure there is no obstruction.Urology consult & prophylactic antibiotics if needed.

What problems can polyhydramnios cause? Polyhydramnios may increase the risk of these problems during pregnancy: prematurity, abruption, prom, stillbirth, post part. Hemorrhage & fetal malposition.

They sometimes do: Infants sometimes have amniotic fluid in their mouth which can get sucked into their lungs at delivery.The OB makes an effort to clear the nose & mouth after the head is delivered, but if baby comes out rapidly that may not be possible. This material can trigger rapid breathing & a trip to the nicu for a few days as it can act identical to  pneumonia. Most do well with treatment.

Depends on variables: There are spaces within the developing brain where fluid is supposed to be.The size & shape of these spaces is sometimes visible depending on the type of study sensitivity of the probe used. If the fluid collection is excessive, the feature will be monitored. Many will require treatment after delivery and some before. Each case is managed based on individual features.

Swallowing is needed: By the second trimester, your baby should be swallowing on a regular basis.  The baby will also start to urinate and make the first stool meconium.  The follow up ultrasound may be able to determine the cause if your baby continues to have difficulty swallowing.

i went to the gynae and my baby is due for the 19 of march but now the dr advises that i give birth earlier around the 19th due to fluid around the placenta being around 4cm and the babies waist also just within the range. bt i want the date of da 19?

: The health of your baby and you are more important than the date of the birth. It is vital for you to follow your OB Dr's advice and treatment plan in order to avoid stillbirth and other devastating outcomes. If your pregnancy is greater than 37 weeks it is considered full term and safe to deliver.

the last few mornings i have woken up with very damp under wear. not saturated, but damp. 4 days ago ultrasound showed babies had great amniotic fluid around them but i am nervous. 18w5d, does it sound normal or like im leaking fluid?? no smell/pain?

: You don't say that you continue to notice the dampness during the day. If that's the case,  then it is very unlikely this is an amniotic fluid leak.  The leak can't tell time,  so would continue leaking during the day. Even if a little moisture during the day, could be sweat as you perspire more in pregnancy.  However, as with ANYTHING you are concerned about during a pregnancy,  CALL YOUR OB!

Vomiting: Your baby may be vomiting injested amniotic fluid at the time of delivery. If condition persists consult your doctor.

how can i get rid of buldging fluid in my babies ear drum he's 7 months old and had it for over 3 months he's been on antibiotics to many times?

See an ENT: If a child has an ear infection which doesn't clear after 2 months of antibiotics, or keeps recurring within less than 2 weeks after antibiotics, you may need to ask your doctor for a referral to an ear, nose, and throat specialist. Tubes are sometimes used to resolve this problem until the baby's own eustachian tubes grow.
