Erupting tooth tissu: Without looking at you clinically, the tissue could be hyperkeratotic tissue secondary to either trauma from the opposing tooth, or simply pericoronitis associated with the erupting third molar (wisdom tooth).  Either way, you should visit your dentist to have it looked at. Removal of the wisdom tooth would be a prudent course of action to follow.

Yes: Tooth pain in the lower jaw can radiate up the side of the head and can even affect your balance. See a dentist asap. The tooth most likely needs to be removed.

Not correct: At 58 the last of your teeth should have erupted &gt;40 years ago.  It's important that you see a dentist or oral surgeon immediately for an examination.  This is definitely something that should be evaluated right away.

Eruption pain: When a wisdom tooth is trying to erupt, the area behind the second molar can become tender or even painful. This is called pericornitis. Anti inflammatory otc medication works best to control this pain.  Pain may last for a few days and then subside. If it happens frequently, then you may need to seek care and have the teeth removed. Ask your dentist.

OTC Pain Meds: That little flap of tissue is called an operculum, and it often indicates that there may not be enough room in your mouth for that tooth. See your local dentist for an exam and further care.

Parasthesis: One of the risks of any surgery is parasthesia (numbness). The time to address this is immediately post-surgical. 10 years out is a bit late. Advise consulting w a Neurologist.

Needs attention: You can't let this rest without treatment.  You have a facial infection starting in the wisdom tooth root which can spread rapidly and be very painful, destructive and occasionally lethal.  As soon as you can, see your family doctor, an acute care clinic or an emergency room.  Do not wait on this.

Poss. gum infection: Common to have deep gum pockets around a wisdom tooth that can accumulate food debris 'cause it hard to clean.  Try vigorous rinsing 4-5x/day with hydrogen peroxide diluted 50/50 with water and meticulously brushing and flossing everytime you eat.  If it gets worse or does not resolve in 5-6 days have a dentist evaluate the area before it gets out of hand.
