: These questions are best answered by your doctor after seeing your finger. What type of water are you swimming in (pool? Ocean? etc.)?
If your doctor sees that there is a layer of skin covering the area, this may be enough to stop the ointment and wrapping. You may need to cover it for swimming. Your doctor can tell by examining it what the next steps would be! Good luck to you!

Small : Small abrasions generally will heal on their own.  However, if you start to develop pain, discharge or difficulty opening your eye then you should seek immediate medical care.  On rare occasions a fingernail scratch to the eye can start to present with sharp pain in the eye when first awakening in the morning.  If you start to develop this condition, aka recurrent corneal erosion syndrome, then it is important to see an eye doctor to put you on a preventative/therapeutic regimen of eye drops and ointments.

Hard to say: without seeing it!    However if its a SINGLE line on one fingernail....probably means NOTHING...IF HOWEVER multiple line occur CHECK IT OUT with your PCP  ....ASAP

Yes: This usually means there is good circulation. Infants are pinker than adults.  A problem would be if the nails were blue.

Paronychia: The base of your nailbed may have come irritated or infected. Keep it clean and if it collects pus, have it drained. You may need antibiotics. Watch for any spread. All the best.

Sounds like: Infection to me. She needs oral antibiotics from her physician, get it checked out to confirm what i think it is.

Infection: This could represent a paranochyia which can be a bacterial or candida infection. If bacterial it can be drained and it will resolve without oral antibiotics. If yeast , treat with topical antifungal along nail fold. These infections can occur together and need to be treated to prevent the infection from spreading and causing damage to the nail.
