can a finger injury that happened five years ago still cause the finger to be bent and not straightened anymore? my right ring finger is still bent at the middle knuckle?

: Yes, relatively common, injuries may result in healing with incomplete range of motion recovery due to multiple structures being possibly involved including nerves, vessels, tendons and ligaments, to name a few.

Swelling near nerve: Swelling can squeeze the nerves and cause carpal tunnel syndrome. Just because no bones broken doesn't mean no injury. See an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment.

i have a hard bump on the side of my middle finger (right hand)  very small, feels  like a bone and no pain  just felt it today should i be worried?

Don't worry: Small masses on the fingers can be the result of several pathologies.  From small ganglion cysts, bone spurs, inclusion cysts, neuromas (usally painful) and  giant cell tumor (sounds really bad...But is really benign).  The best solution is to have it examined by a hand surgeon who can either obtain imaging to better diagnose it or excise it to get the exact pathology.

i have a slightly painful small hard lump in between my index  and middle finger on my right hand. no broken bones. i do use the computer a lot. ?

Examination: This would require an examination and possibly an x-Ray to determine the nature of the lump.

i broke my finger 13 yrs ago.  x-rayed and had pt. knuckle had a tiny piece of bone chipped off. finger feels jammed and can't bend as far as others.

Be seen: Certainly if you had an injury 13 years ago and have had trouble with it since, it would seem unlikely it is going to get any better by simply giving it more time.  So, if it is causing you enough trouble to warrant it, I would not hesitate to be seen to discuss treatment options.

i had a l staple go through my index finger right on the side of knuckle and it's swollen and can barely move it. not sure of it hit bone or not what should k do?

: The staple can't go through if it hit the bone. Because it is a deep wound so infection may occur and tetanus is also a concern if you are not immunized although I doubt the latter possibility. You may need antibiotic so you should see a doctor if feasible. Good luck.

Xray: You can get an X-ray of your hand to see if there is an "avulsion fracture", a chip of bone that has separated.

IP joint ganglion: More likely it is a joint fluid extrusion, also known as a ganglion....A needle extraction and cortisone shot will probably take care of the problem..Otherwise it will become a surgical procedure
