Iron supplements: Ferrous sulfate can interfere with the absorption of certain medications like thyroid hormone. It also can cause stomach upset, constipation, diarrhea, and achiness. If one takes excessive amounts of iron over long periods of time it can very rarely cause organ damage such as heart and liver failure.

More severe side effects can include headache, allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); black, tarry stools; blood or streaks of blood in the stool; fever; vomiting with continuing sharp stomach pain.

Unlikely: Calcium in the pill is unlikely to cause the symptoms. Iron can irritate the stomach. If you are unable to tolerate oral iron, your doctor can give you the whole dose in one IV infusion.

Unrelated: The two are likely to be unrelated. You may use an over the counter emollient like Chap-stick for the lip.
Keep taking iron.

If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex.

i was prescribed ferrous sulfate 325 mg tablets. the bottle said to only take it once daily. well, i accidentally took 2 because i had forgot about the one i already took. will this cause any major medical problems or an overdose? thank you?

: No problem. If you consumed the bottle as sometimes happens with toddlers, it would be cause symptoms. With two, I doubt you would notice any symptom and it would not have any serious effect on your system. If you have difficulty keeping track, invest in a pill canister with Sunday-Saturday initials and load your pills for daily use. If the date is empty, you took it.

What is the question: What is your question.Apparently you are being treated for Iron Defeciency Anemia.But unfortunately we don&#x27;t know what your question is.
We don&#x27;t have all the information like what is the cause of your Anemia and how long you have had it and what was your blood count,like Hemoglobin,iron level etc.
Consult and follow up with your Doctor and if breathing difficulty go to ER

Iron deficiency: Most of the time iron deficiency is detected when the CBC is abnormal. However, some cases may still show numbers in the normal range, but tending towards a pattern consistent with iron deficiency. If the iron, iron binding and serum ferritin (panel) all point to deficiency then treatment is good. But should also ask why iron is low.

Depending on the: level of iron deficiency anemia you have, you would need between 160 mg to 480 mg of iron sulfate (there are other compounds) daily.  Your body can only absorb so much through the gut before inducing side effects.  Most OTC iron preparations are between 5 mg to 65 mg, so likely you would have to take a lot of pills to make up for the deficiency.   The key is to have regular checkup to see progress
