Iron supplements: Ferrous sulfate can interfere with the absorption of certain medications like thyroid hormone. It also can cause stomach upset, constipation, diarrhea, and achiness. If one takes excessive amounts of iron over long periods of time it can very rarely cause organ damage such as heart and liver failure.
