Colectomy??: Was this your first colonoscopy?  Did you know of any polyps previously.  A colon that contains literally hundreds of polyps (nodules) suggests a genetic syndrome - the problem being that any of these polyps could potentially be precancerous.  You need to discuss this with your gastroenterologist right away, as you may need to have the colon removed.

Not first choice : Colonoscopy is the first choice , as it is true visualization of colon, if any polyp present, biopsy could be done , even a very small lesions , other mucosal pathology could be seen. Relatively safe . V c is non invasive screening procedure, if abnormal still need colonoscopy.

Depends: Generally you should have a colonoscopy at age 50, or 10 years before the age your mother was diagnosed with colon cancer-- whichever is earlier.  Regardless of your age, if you are having any rectal bleeding you should have a colonoscopy.

Check with your MD: It is very important  to have clean colon , for successful  inside examination of colon. , equally  important to communicate with GI doctor, will advise to take it or advise an alternative  medication.

NO: First see your doctor for examination and preliminary tests in office , if indicated will tell you.  Just one relative having colon cancer is not enough to implicate genetics At 24 need to have a definitive indication (s)  for colonoscopy .  .

: You need to separate the follow up for Colon Cancer(for this you need to see your doctor every 6 months to 12 month intervals) and for the colon Polyps. The advice for 2 yearly rechecks is strictly for the Colon polyps  which can reappear and require recheck at 2-3 year intervals. Good luck.

Likely boring: If I were to receive such a report it would likely mean they found nothing important to discuss. After looking at hundreds of such studies that are normal the writer is often at a loss of words to write detail. They do get fussed at if they say normal. Featureless to me means they found nothing worth describing.

All of it!: The intention with colonoscopy is to examine the entire length of the colon.  Sometimes due to tortuosity (or twisty-ness), it is difficult or impossible to see the entire colon.  Other ways to evaluate the colon include virtual colonoscopy and barium enema.  The advantage of colonoscopy is if anything is found, it can be biopsied or removed often times right away.

: The "large" intestine is the colon, which is what a colonoscopy evaluates. It does not enter/evaluate the small intestine which is not part of the colon.

Proctalgia: Motility, compliance, ; sensation of the rectum are important to fecal continence. Hypersensitivity to distension ; abnormal motility patterns in the rectum are common. Anatomic testing has ruled out structural pathology, but further studies can help distinguish irritable bowel from levator ani muscle dysfunction, sphincter dysfunction, dyssynergia, proctalgia fugax, more. Treatment then follows.
