Did he say if you were a blue baby or had a heart defect? or coarctation of the aorta. Are u taking BB?  they may do this. need more Hx and am here till 4 AM PCT to help.

Vascular : because of the fact that the pain is relieved by raising ur legs indicates a vascular insufficiency. For whatever reason blood is having trouble getting back to ur heart. Varicose vein insufficiency should be evaluated by a vascular specialist. U should see one right away

Sounds normal.: Expanding baby compresses vessels that bring blood back to the heart from the lower extremities. This causes pooling of blood in the feet with a purple/red color.  Aching comes from the same. Best treatment is to not stand on feet and to lay with your L side down when you can.

Normal can be ugly: You could have kidney or heart problems but at your age I would suspect that you have the sl. swollen feet ofter seen at rest in women.  Some of us have relish colored feet from pooled blood and the veins will swell as the fill from gravity. Calf muscles are the major source of return blood flow in the less , so use them and balance will be restored, Walk!

Possible infection: Pain and redness indicate likely infection unless he was injured.
Infection requires antibiotic treatment promptly.
So take him to see a doctor right away and seek medical consultation for treatment of his infection. Also check his temperature as most often infection is accompanies by fever.
