Could be the back: Consider having your back examined.  The lumbar region of the back is where the roots to the nerve that supply the lower leg.  An orthopedist, pain management specialist or neurologist may be a good consultation to consider.

It is possible that: There is a nerve impingement secondary to the position she may keep at night such as laying down. 
It may be prudent to have an emg/ncv but i would suggest having the test performed while she is in the same position that causes the problem.

Vascular : because of the fact that the pain is relieved by raising ur legs indicates a vascular insufficiency. For whatever reason blood is having trouble getting back to ur heart. Varicose vein insufficiency should be evaluated by a vascular specialist. U should see one right away

Gravity: When you hang your feet and especially when you stand your legs get about 10 percent more blood volume pooling in them.  This causes your blood vessels to dilate and you notice more of a pink color to your feet.

No: You sitting on your foot probably caused decreased nerve sensation to the foot due to nerve compression. By moving it you relieved the compression on the nerve and it felt better. A blood clot would have caused swelling pain and discoloration and other problems.

Missing nutrients?: I would be concerned that you might be missing one or more critical nutrients in your detox diet that could be affecting your feet, but also you must try to work some activity into your sedentary lifestyle: get up &amp; walk some laps around your house/apartment every hour or so (better outside if possible, but inside can work).   Maybe review carefully what is in &amp; not in the diet.
