: The radiation exposure is quite minimal, but the reason for the Nasal x ray should be clarified. An evaluation with a scope is often helpful.

Unlikely: But possible.  Brother with NPC does not really raise your risk unless of course you share the same risk factors.  Your doc should have been able to look at these on CT scan or on nasopharyngoscope and give you a better read.  A good look is better than any risk factor analysis....

Steroids: If you are having congestion then saline spray/wash may help and also local steroids such as flonase can be tried. If you have symptoms of sinusitis (fever, sinus pain) then you may need to see a doctor for possible antibiotic prescription.

Question?: I think your question was cut off.  This description is typical for "globus sensation" or "globus pharyngis".  Irritation of the delicate tissue above and around the vocal cords gives the sensation of a "lump". It will resolve days after the inciting event or it may be associated with chronic post-nasal drip/rhinitis. For the latter, treatment of the chronic rhinitis makes it disappear.

Yes it can: Cause this lump sensation due to chronic inflammation, which may or may not be due to allergies. The mainstay here is control of the inflammation, nasal saline washes and nasal steroids would do the trick, in absence of bacterial or fungal infection. If you have access to a qualified allergist, let him/her evaluate your condition, if not, keep the follow up with ENT, good luck

Adenoid: Absolutely nothing. Adenoids are normal tissue and you have some residual tissue in the nasopharynx. Merely an incidental observation your ENT made during your nasopharyngeal exam.

nasopharynx cancer (npc)! my father has npc second stage. is there a cure? what are his odds of survival?

Good: Nasopharynx cancer is easily treated.  In second stage therei are  cervical lymph nodes but when high in neck it is easy to encompass a field where the pharyngeal lesion is hit by cross RT beams and the neck also treated with RT.  Chemo is then given which in most instances is successful. Surgery most of the time is not indicated.
