Throat: Great question. It usually means you have silent acid reflux also called "LPR" Sometimes what you eat can cause it or if you eat late at night. I'd check it out with your doctor if it persists.

I wouldn,t: "wait on" any new onset chest pain although this certainly souds like ACID REFUX or GERD is a destinct possibility CARDIAC pain can present VERY "ATYPICALLY" in women!  Go to ER or Walk In Unit! as soon as practicable!

Need evaluation : Differentials include nutcracker esophagitis and other causes of dysphagia. A barium test or EGD may be indicated.  See a Gastroenterolgist

Reflux?: Do you eat late suppers, eat a lot of fatty meals? Are you tasting acid or bile at the back of your throat? Are you drinking more than a little alcohol, smoking?  These are some of the questions that your doctor may ask to clarify the symptoms that you have described.  Some healthy lifestyle choices might make a difference even before you get to see your doctor.

?GAS: The normal mechanisms of the body will eventually cause enough build up of gas, that you would be able to "burp" up the gas bubble.  Some people may be able to "induce" a burp on their own and maybe that would help your case.  Drink plenty of water and hopefully the feeling will subside.  See your Doctor if the feeling persists, as maybe there are antacid type medicines that may help too.

: You may have an esophageal motility disorder.A gastroenterologist could evaluate &amp; advise you. Your current sore throat is most likely an infection,viral or strep. An otolaryngologist can also check your pharynx because of your recurrent symptoms and at the same time  order a throat culture because of your current sore throat.

Otolaryngologist: I recommend consulting an otolaryngologist for thorough throat &amp; swallowing evaluation. You may have laryngopharangeal reflux.  If no abnormalities are found anxiety &amp; tension may be the cause of your symptom. If so, stress management therapy should be helpful. Discuss this with your MD.

i have what feels like a huge air bubble stuck in the top of my chest and back of throat. gaviscon is not working g, i've tried burping which isn't working. everytime i swallow or burp it is painful. do i need to go in to see a doctor ?
