See dds: If you close your teeth together and it hurts , 
a simple procedure will relieve your pain.
If its a recent root canal , give it some time to quiet down, 

old root canal see your dds.

should i be able to feel any pain in a tooth after a root canal? i had a root canal done in the winter, and now i feel like i can feel something in that tooth again. is that possible? could i be imagining things, or maybe actually be feeling another tooth

There : There is no nerve in the tooth for you to feel pain from the tooth itself.  There may be something occurring outside the tooth, such as an infection that is causing the pain or there may be a fracture in the tooth.  Recommend you see the endodontist that treated the tooth for a reevaluation.

need an opinion about a root canal!? i had a root canal about 4 years ago. the dentist never put a cap/crown on it. yesterday it started feeling very sensitive to cold. it does not hurt to chew on that side, doesn't hurt when i push on it and heat doesn't

Because : Because the nerve in the tooth was removed during the root canal procedure the tooth is unable to respond to changes in temperature.  Though every root canal treated tooth does not need a crown, root canal treated teeth are more prone to fracture due to increased brittleness.  Fractured teeth typically cause pain on biting pressure or increase the risk of infection as bacteria can migrate down the fracture.  I would look at adjacent vital teeth as the source of your discomfort to changes in temperature either due to root exposure of decay.  See your dentist as this is a sign that some treatment is required.

Not in the tooth: The bone around that tooth is probably still a bit inflamed, and that's what you're feeling. People wrongly assume that since there is no nerve inside the tooth, they won't feel anything at all... They forget there are also nerves outside the tooth which can cause pain or sensitivity.

Confusion: Unlikely. You may be experiencing worsening of your anxiety disorder with somaticization. I dont see any link between a root canal 3 years ago and the symptoms you report. You likely have forced your doctors to perform a myriad of tests which have been undoubtedly negative for any organic pathology.Are you under the care of a mental health professional? Are you on any medications?

Possibly Your Bite: If that crown is hitting prematurely the tooth can be sensitive. Have your dentist take a look.

: Why wait a month, a root canal tooth with a crown over it can fracture if the crown is high and causes pressure on biting. The tooth has no sensation because of the root canal but pressure can affect the tooth above and each tooth next to the crown. Get the bite adjusted now to have a normal feeling[occlusion].

had intense toothache since friday evening.had a root canal today and there was lots of inflammation.started feeling shivery when got home.got antibiotics and pain med.temp before taking the meds was 38.1 and 30mins after it was same.also lightheaded?

Infection: The infection had spread beyond the tooth. Were the antibiotics prescribed by your Dentist or did you pick them yourself? Important that you take the right meds for the entire course of treatment, usually 5 full days. Antibiotics may take up to 48 hours to take hold. If you're uncomfortable call the Dentist or specialist Endodontist tat treated you.
