Hmmm: If you have some type of malabsorption disorder in your intestine , then you will not absorb fat properly and excess fat will remain in the stool. The fat mucous would be expelled when when you have gas.

Should have stool fat studies done and a visit to your doc who may recommend a colonoscopy and other tests.

Malabsorption: This could be due to poor absorption of food in your intestines. There is a wide possibility of causes for this.

I would recommend seeing your doctor in order to rule out a more serious cause.

Depends: The colon naturally produces mucus. With colitis, the colon is infected, inflamed, or irritated and can produce excess mucus to protect itself. Sometimes, severe constipation can also cause excess mucus. Your primary care doctor may choose to perform stool studies to help diagnose the problem.

Chronic GI problems?: You did not describe having any abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting associated with this "smelly stool accident" when you passed gas so this does not constitute an urgent care visit. Schedule an appointment with your PCP so you can further evaluate.

See your physician: Recent yellowish/brown mucus with a few occasions of small amounts of bright blood in the mucus is of  concern. Inflammatory bowel disease, infectious conditions, malabsorption disorders  and cancer are all a possibility. However further evaluation may reveal just hemorrhoidal bleeding and nothing else serious. **It is very important that you see your physician to evaluate your symptoms.

Colitis: This is colitis and may be simply mucus colitis which would respond to avoiding harsh roughage and taking kaopectate (kaolin and pectin). However the presence of red blood raises the possibility of an inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis. Another possibility is the presence of hemorrhoids as the cause of the blood. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate and treat  you.

If you have fever, vomiting, localized pain lasting over 40 minutes get evaluated.

Daily fiber...: Make sure you have adequate fiber and fluid intake. Metamucil or similar 1-2 times daily with a full glass of water is a good start along with regular exercise. If this does not help then MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) 1 capful in a glass of water 1-2 times daily would be next. If this does not work you should see your doctor. If you have blood in your stool, vomiting or weight loss you should see your doctor.
