Sometimes like that: Most styes are isolated but in a few they seem to come in crops - occasionally in the same location.  When you get the earliest symptom apply moist heat frequently sort of 4-5 times per day for 5 minutes each time.  If the recurrences keep coming see your ophthalmologist for additional systemic medication which might help.

i am having syptoms of an eyelid stye but i can't tell yet. is this something i can treat at home or do i need to see a doctor?

Yes: Before a sty is formed the eyelid becomes red and painful. If these are your symptoms; you can start using a warm compress over both eyes (closed) for 10 minutes once daily .  Use a clean wash towel fourfold it and soak it in hot clean water.  Then scrub your closed eyelashes for 30 seconds with baby shampoo.  Do this for 2 weeks. If still painful see your doctor.

after using compress on upper eyelid stye some blood came out. is this normal? i started antibiotic ointment yesterday. how should i proceed?

Possible: As long as your sty is resolving and the pain lessening, I would continue the hot compresses &amp; lid massages. Sometimes a little bleeding can result if the sty has broken through the gland into the adjacent capillaries (like a pimple).  But, if no umprovement with your treatment or if worsening, have it checked out by an ophthalmologist. Good luck.

Many questions here: Externally applied medication does not affect styes.  Generous application of heated cloths is the best remedy. A stye is an infected lid gland.  If the body's battle to get rid of the stye is only partially effect, it may surround the stye with a cyst wall termed a chalazion. Styes are not infectious and not related to contact lens wear.

Hot compresses: Use good warm/hot compresses for 5 minutes several times a day.

Probably: Try warm compresses and gentle massage and see if you can make it go away. If not, you may need medication or surgical drainage, or it may be something else altogether.

3 different causes: A stye is an infected hair follicle. It is a large, red, painful bump on the front of the eyelid near the eyelashes.  A chalazion is a backed up oil gland that forms a deeper nodule with overlying red skin. It is rarely painful and can hang around for awhile.  There are many eyelid tumors including basal & squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma & sebaceous cell carcinoma, which can mimic a chalazion.

Ouch!!: Listerine contains alcohol which should never be applied to your eyelid!

so i've had my left eyelid with stye or chalazion after a few years of my birth. i visited doctors but it didn't help. the marks or scars are still there in my eye and it makes it look puffy and recently it has got many black spots too. please help?

: Black spots are not typical for a chalazion. You should have it evaluated soon by an ophthalmologist or an oculoplastic speacialist to make sure that it's nothing more serious. They can also advise you on how to improve the cosmetic appearance.
