recently noticed a very small oval shaped black dot near my pupil on iris. brown eyes. what could this be?

Nevus, cyst: If the lesion is truly on the iris, inside the eye, it could be a benign cyst, or nevus, or it could be a more serious growth.  It is also possible that what you see is on the cornea, or clear surface of the eye. Whatever it may be, it's definitely worth taking a trip to your eye doctor to have him or her check it out.

Black or Red?: Sorry your photo  image is not available. The 'sticky' part concerns me, except i can't help but wonder why a small spot is sticky? And, how would you know? Best to consult your ophthalmologist for an evaluation.

on my left eye and on the left side of the iris, i have a black dot that is on top of a yellow spot. this spot sometimes suddenly hurts. it feels like there is something there.

Iris spots: y\You need to consult an ophthalmologist.  Most likely normal.Till then ou can google iris spots and view images and see if you can match yours up. Good luck.

No Problem: A little mole or freckle (medical term:nevus) on the iris is very common. As long as it is not growing or changing, it will not be a problem.  It is extremely rare to have any problem with such a mole.
Do mention it to your eye md next visit.

See eye doctor: Would need to know if you see this on your eye when you look in the mirror or when you look at something, you see a black dot on the image you are looking at.  If you see it in the mirror, need to make sure it is a freckle and not a malignancy.  If you see it when you look at images, you need to make sure there is not a problem with the retina, the jelly part of the eye, or the optic nerve.

Reassurance : An exam will be best to assess what sounds like a pigment lesion on your Iris. Most of these are benign nevi or freckles, but if you are noticing this for the very first time, an exam is even moreover important. Good luck.

Probably normal: But it would not be possible to be sure without her getting a dilated eye exam with a pediatric ophthalmologist preferably.

Scotoma ..: 24 y/o Female woke up to fix something to eat, looked near wall, saw a small black dot which then went away; asks if to tell eye doctor. Not unusual for eyes to be out of focus on waking up. Scotoma, defined as an island of visual filed loss/ blindness can be transient or permanent. Once is probably not significant but if it recurs often it will be indication to Chat with the Eye Doctor.

Takes a while: I am guessing that your ophthalmologist (not an optometrist i hope) evaluated your eye including a dilated retinal examination.  Since nothing therapeutic was recommended, you are probably having changes with age in your vitreous, which commonly includes the development of floaters in the vision.  The fluids move very slowly and it can take years for some spots to disappear.

Nevus: It is most likley a nevus or freckle. An eyeMD can take a look, photograph it to see if it needs to be followed, biopsied, or excised.
