Irritant/contact: Most of hand eczema are from exposure to excessive amount of irritant (solvent, soap etc) or too much water. Around 25% is from contact allergy to an allergen (chemicals, raw food etc).  The best approach is avoidance of these  triggers. Topical cortisone may help but is not a long term solution. See allergist/dermatologist.

Smoking: Basically this is being controlled by social pressure. In the work environment or an apartment you might have legal options. In social settings indoors, in a car you have to stick up for yourself and demand that  people don't smoke in enclosed areas.

i work in a dietary setting where i constantly am washing my hands. is there any way that i can combat the dry skin that comes from repeated washing?

Accepted Answer

Lots of lotion: Use lots of hand lotion at every opportunity. There are also a variety of lotion soaps as well as hand sanitizers with lotion. These can all help with the dry skin. You might also try using cooler water as hot water can tend to dry out skin faster.

Probably not: Tennis elbow straps work by providing a "counterforce" to decrease the load of the tendons on their attachments at the elbow.

is there a way to decrease hair loss? males from both sides of my parents are bald. i exercise and generally eat healthy but i have a recessing hair line. i also notice many hairs on my hands when showering.

Yes: They are medications like Rogaine  and Minoxiy all that can help reduce hair loss. Also an examination by primary care doctor with lab work and rule out issues like thyroid disorder I can cause hair loss.

Fever &amp; tremors: Your dad needs to see a doctor ASAP.  This will only get worse w/out treatment.  W/treatment things can improve.   Peace and good health.

Not usual: Release of band in trigger finger is relatively simple surgery and should not cause' loss of dexterity '  how ever if unexpected infections etc sets in may  result in loss of dexterity, ask  your surgeon, risks and benefits of surgery.

Fingers: Problems with the nerve root in the neck, thoracic outlet or other entrapments on the way down (pronator syndrome etc.).
