Complications: All procedures have risks.  In your case it sounds like the benefits outweigh the risks.  It is usually done with sedation only as it requires some cooperation.  For the greater majority of people this anesthesia makes it significantly easier on you and makes the procedure quicker and easier for the MD which is beneficial for you.

Varies : There are numerous possibilities; reflux disease or even a hiatal hernia are among the possibilities.  Don’t hesitate to discuss with your medical doctor.

Sliding hiatus: A sliding hiatal hernia may not always show up an Ultrasound. The hernia literally slides up and down, above then below the diaphragm muscle. Minimize or avoid tobacco , coffee, alcohol, NSAIDS, and eating large meals. Lose some weight (5%), avoid tight fitting clothing.  OTC and rx medications may treat the symptoms; severe conditions may require surgery to fix

GERD and HH:  Many people with acid reflux do not have a hiatus hernia. Also, many people with a hiatus hernia do not have symptoms of acid reflux. If you have a HH it does not necessarily mean that the sphincter between the oesophagus and stomach does not work so well. It is just that having a HH makes you more prone to having a poorly functioning sphincter and more prone to developing GERD.

Unlikely : What you described is unlikely to result in a hiatal hernia.

right under my heart its tight. i feel likes its my esophagus pushing down on my diaphragm. its felt this way for a couple of months now. even if i dont eat. what could it be? i dont have acid reflux as much anymore and im 17 active girl?

: The esophagus does not push down on the diaphragm. You are best off seeing your MD or a GI doc and let them diagnose the cause, for without exam and testing no diagnosis can be made. In the meantime try small meals several times a day, avoid spices and try deep breathing excescizes. You are young and with proper care will be fine.

is it normal to feel the bones in the vertebrae with fingers if you push into side of neck or in the front of neck beside the esophagus?

: It’s normal to feel vertebrae along the back of the neck.  At the front, you are probably feeling cartilage that protects the trachea.

during first 5-6 bites during meal food kind of gets stuck in esophagus just below throat . i have to drink water to push it down, and afterwards it is kind of normal. what could be causing this?
