Oral Thrush: Oral lichen planus is a long-term disorder of the immune system. Symptoms of  lichen planus are similar to thrush, and often mistaken for thrush. However, if sores went away with yeast medicines, it was an oral thrash.

Maybe: Most people with oral lichen planus don't need yo do anything because there are usually no symptoms. There is no cure and if it is severe enough for you to have symptoms then you will need either topical or systemic steroids depending on the severity. I am unaware of any alternative treatments for this condition.

Low: The incidence of lichen planus turning into some type of oral skin cancer is very low according to my opinion.  I have never seen a case study where any cases have been reported.

Oral Lichen Planus: See an oral surgeon for a definitive diagnosis and then discuss whether or not you require any medication at all. In most cases, nothing is prescribed. Sometimes topical steroids are used for acute flareups or severe chronic cases. It&#x27;s not like an infection where you take antibiotics to get rid of an infection. There is no &quot;cure&quot; and it may come and go or change in degree.

Treatment for LP: Usually the treatment for LP is corticosteroids for an extended period of time.. May be treated systemically and topically.  I don't believe we call it cured just suppressd, so its a chronic condition.

We treat the blisters with ozonated water rinses, direct O3 gas to site and Ozonated oils as a topical.

Some offices treat with Honey.

See a Dermatologist: If you have oral lichen planus, you should be seeing a dermatologist who has experience with oral diseases.  Oral rinses are available as well as other very effective measures to manage your condition.  It is important to note that oral erosive lichen planus can be associated with hepatitis c infection and can lead to oral cancer in a very small number of people.  Have it checked out and followed.

Don't be scared!: Think of lichen planus as a benign skin rash in your mouth.  It can triggered by the immune system. There may be several contributing factors, and each case is different. Potential causes include: viral infections, allergens, stress, genetics, etc...  Most people will have some form of lichen planus in their lifetime.  If you case becomes painful or much worse, have a dentist take a look at you.

Rarely: Lichen planus, an autoimmune disease, may lead to oral cancer in rare cases. If you notice a change in the pattern or your lesions, or worsening of symptoms, have it checked soon by an oral surgeon.

whats the difference between canker sores and ulcerative oral lichen planus? i get little ulcers in my mouth usually 4-5 at a time, but they resolve with salt water rinse and applying honey to them. dont lichen planus ulcers last for months?
