why doea my bowels get so noise an bubbly after an enima??

Enema: An enema is used to stimulate the colon so that you can have a bowel movement.  So, when you place the liquid inside the bowel it causes the bowel to increase its contractions.  Also the liquids from the enema will make a rushing sound as it pushed in the colon.  I usually don't recommend frequent use of enemas for my patients.  If you are having to use them regularly you need to talk to your doc.

Appetite: I am assuming that you are having issues with appetite that you believe are due to the anti-epileptics that you have been prescribed.  Some medications, possibly topiramate more than others may sometimes cause this side effect, I recommend that you discuss with your Physician/ Neurologist to evaluate &amp; decide if adjustment of medicines is needed.

Dependent edema: Edema or swelling that results from having legs down (like in a chair) that worsens during the day is likely dependent edema (also not engaging muscles that facilitate venous return). But there can be other more significant causes....Discuss the your physician as dependent edema is eminently treatable.

is the machine (exima) helpful to tighten the lose skin and remove stretch marks ?

Accepted Answer

No: Stretch marks are tears in the skin cause by weight gain. They can be covered up, but not improved by creams and lotions. The only possibly effective therapy is cosmetic plastic surgery, but that's a big step for a non-health and non-life threatening problem.

i get frequent but short lived headaches almost everyday.. my doctor prescribed epival cs. is it ok?

Valproate: This medication is an antiseizure drug with significant potential toxicities, among which are headaches.  Would have a serious discussion with your doctor about the diagnosis and the rationale for this therapy.  You may be unaware of what they are thinking.  If the doctor is not a neurologist you may want to ask for consultative referral.

my 18 month old son, has terrible ezcema. his skin is dry and patchy. i apply lotion(epimax) all the time. he scratches so much. it's heartbreaking.

Might be eczema: His doctor can check to see if the rash is typical eczema or something else. Eczema is helped by increasing skin moisture using creams such as CeraVe or Cetaphil. Hydrocortisone cream is over-the-counter and can be used twice a day for a week while waiting for the doctor appointment. For "terrible" eczema, prescription "cortisone" and some skin antibiotics are usually needed. Patients avoid soap.

what is the definition of pulmonary phibrosis? is it linked to pulmonar hyper-tension? is there a cure for & how does it compare to pulmonary  edima?

Lung scarring: Pulmonary fibrosis is scarring of the lung and comes in many types - some are amenable to treatment, some are not.  It is often associated with pulm hypertension and not usually associated with pulm edema.  Anyone with a diagnosis of pf should be seen by a pulmonologist so they can have their disease evaluated and poss treatments discussed.

hi i'm 38, and over 12 years i've 3 barium enimas and 3 barium swallow i'm so worried i'll get cancer now from these test, so worried :( please let me know my risk so i can stop worrying thanks.

No worries: Barium contrast media will not cause cancer.

Yes, good option: Epimax is a good lower priced option in emollient lotions used for Eczema. it is gentle enough to be used in babies and can help reduce the dryness and flakiness seen in Eczema.
