i get stomach aches when i eat or random times. its not very painful endoscopy reveals nothing. could it be something serious? it happens a lot but, not that painful. could it be cancer?

: Your body is talking to you.  Listen and take good notes. I would focus on keeping track of what you eat and when in a diary till you figure it out. Then stop eating what you think is doing it and see.

Practically everyone: Has some food intolerance, & may include such innocuous ingestants as water (or watermelon). Reference: elaine shimberg, "relief from ibs".Avoid foods that bother you, but best to examine whole diet, keep a food diary, & try to correlate your upset stomach with intake of any foods & other variables.

what does erythematous mucosa in the stomach mean on an endoscopy?

Gastropathy: Red mucosa could be due to chemicals like naprosyn, aleve, (naproxen) asa or bacterial induced gastritis. Biopsies can show if there is bacteria present. Usually the red mucosa is a non-specific finding.

if they have to do a stomach biopsy, would they do a full upper endoscopy anyway?

Yes: If they are doing an endoscopic stomach biopsy then yes.

Maybe: You may feel some discomfort but should be tolerable. Call your doctor if not better soon.

Acidity: Excess acidity can cause inflammation called gastritis. A bacteria called h pylori might be involved.

Try probiotics: Adding probiotics can be helpful to improve the "good bacteria" in the gut.  Eliminating dairy products and foods that contain gluten for 2 weeks to see if the symptoms resolve can be helpful as well.  It is helpful to know all your tests have been negative.  Eating a nice variety of cooked veggies and lean protein can help improve your symptoms.

i was told my stomach might be emptying too slowly after having an endoscopy. can this be caused by my gastritis and esophagitis? or my anxiety?

Stomach emptying.: Slow emptying of the stomach shouldn’t be caused by any of those things.  Could be a separate issue entirely.  But rather than diagnose this by endoscopy, it would be wise to pursue more functional than anatomical testing with your Gastroenterologist.

hi-had a colonoscopy/endoscopy for ongoing issues w/ my stomach (for about 6 yrs).  takes me hours to go to the bathroom every day. any ideas? thx

IBS?: Do you have anxiety? Flip flop between diarrhea and constipation, do you have any trigger foods? You may have irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) i recommend a high fiber diet and mind body health like yoga or meditation for relaxation sometimes stress can have a major affect on our digestive health! i wish you the best of luck!

i have been feeling nauseous quite often.  is this from the gastritis or functional?

Hard to know...: Perhaps the answer will become apparent after you show response (or not) to treatment of gastritis, or if you identify situational triggers to symptoms.
