CARINATUM: Two deformities of the sternum. Pectus carinatum(pigeon chest) and pectus excavatum (sunken chest). Pectus excavatum if severe may produce symptoms, pectus carinatum usually not symptomatic. Pectus excavatum sometimes may require correction.

Bracing for pectus: First off you need a medical evaluation, by a doctor familiar with pectus deformity. If you do in fact have a pectus carinatum deformity, it can be corrected withour the need for surgery.

a week ago, i noticed some lumps with bone texture  in what i believe to be my third and fifth ribs(bilateral), near the sternum.

Cartilage calcified: You are feeling the cartilaginous junction of the ribs with the sternum. Apparently, it is calcifying. The condition is abnormal but not frightening unless you have problems elsewhere.  I would guess that you had some chest injury several years ago.

i have several spine chips from a car accident.i am in a lot of pain.will this last for ever. should i be worried had a car accident. broke 3 ribs, my speen, my sternum, and several bone chips on my spine.....is this serious

By : By the description of your injuries it sounds like a serious car accident.  It would be helpful to have some more information, for example what part of your spine was injured (neck (cervical), chest (thoracic), or lower back (lumbar)).

Bone chips on your spine could describe numerous conditions, most of which are not serious.

The bones that make up your spinal column are called the vertebrae.  In the thoracic and lumbar regions, these bones have extensions off of them called the transverse and spinous processes.  These are areas of the bone that muscle attach to and are vulnerable to injury.  When these processes break they may be referred to as "bone chips".  When these processes break there may be pain involved but generally its not a dangerous condition.  On rare occasions if enough of them in a row are broken that may be a sign of instability which can be dangerous.

Bone chips may also be areas of the bone that are literally torn off by the pull of strong ligaments.  Again, this isn't particularly dangerous unless found in the cervical spine (neck).

My suggestion would be to follow up with the orthopedic surgeon who was on call at the time of your accident and get some more information.

my sternum cracks when pushing down. my back also cracks when pushing down on sternum. general rib bone soreness and discomfort. any ideas? thanks.

Hmmm hypermobility?: Of your sternum. It might be normal to have some crepitus.  Rib soreness can be from costochondritis.  You are young.  It is unlikely to be infection or tumor.  However if the symptoms persist - see your doctor.

You can take anti inflammatory agents like Aspirin and motrin.

i have weird chest pains for the past few months. mostly on the left and sternum but it travels to back too. did ecg, blood work, bone scan.. what does mild uptake at lateral aspect of left 10th rib mean? and what other test should i ask for?

Radiologist: I feel that your physician should sit down with the radiologist,review the scan,ask what this could signify ,whether any other tests would be helpful or what consultants could offer any further help. It's possible that the bone scan detects a small fracture or other rib pathology.

i had a recent ct scan which stated small scattered sclerotic foci throughout the sternum and vertebrae are unchanged with no destructive bone lesion identified what does this mean? i have symptoms of right side rib and chest pain?

: The wording implies that there was a previous CT scan and a comparison of the two shows findings are identical. It also says there is no evidence seen of bone destruction. Any other interpretation must come by correlating the exam findings that lead to the study by the doc who knows the case.

Location and duratio: Where is it located at ? How long was it there ? Are we referring to the rib bones or the one in the center (sternum)? Is there additional growth or is the whole bone is puckering ?  I am not clear with the description  and difficult to make remark . However , some harmless changes are common and should not be of any concern . I suggest your doc have a look and will settle the issue for you.
