I strongly recommend that you undergo an evaluation by a psychiatrist for diagnosis and treatment. If he/she deems it advisable an examination by your Physician may also be needed to rule out other causes for your symptoms.

I recommend consulting a neurologist with a special interest in diagnosing &amp;treating cataplexy &amp; narcoplexy. You may find one in a department of neurology at a university hospital near you.

i am almost 40. seem to be going thru some perimenapause. in the last week have been very emotional, tender breast. i use an iud. took a pregnancy test and after 30 minutes it came back positive. is there a chance the results are just from hormones?

: See a Dr ASAP. They can check your bHCG levels to confirm if you are pregnant. Having a pregnancy while an IUD is in place in the uterus is a high risk situation which can result in problematic bleeding, miscarriage or uterus perforation. Talk to your Dr about next steps.

i normally go 35 to 40 days between the start of my periods. this time it was 20 days and lasted 1.5 days.i am also more emotional which is not normal

Monitor: It's not uncommon to have slight changes in your menstruation schedule.  Many things can affect this including: nutrition, stress, medication changes, infections, thyroid/hormonal issues...  If this becomes a consistent event, then it's time to see your doctor to see what's going on.

i've be have problems with my back which i believe is stress related as i have been under day to day emotional stress for the last 9 months  . is there any small exercises i can do ? i believe it might me a sciatica problem . many thanks

Several ways : If back pain is worse with activity & better with rest, does not affect  sleep &  is not associated with any weight loss, or any fever, chills or sweats then you can try some things on your own otherwise see a doctor. First, stop smoking if you do so. Start exercising  daily including stretching & cardio workouts which can be fast walk to begin with but start slowly.  Yoga is good for mind & back.

i can't cry at all. i feel so badly like i need to. so badly. these last few years i've really struggled with both intense physical and emotional issues. and lately i'm so overwhelmed and feel that deep need to cry but nothing. any ideas? :?

: I would advise getting in touch with a   family member or friend whom you can confide in and to find a therapist who might be really able to help . Some are available online . It is a good idea to talk to your doctor who might prescribe medication  . You can also  call the  depression hotline , at 800 826 3632. Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy, and see your gyn physician as soon as possible if the test is positive.
