Only trust: Echinacea is a plant that indeed if processed have the ability to produce products that have medicinal, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic effect. It seemed to have the ability to boost immune system in animals, no scientific study in humans. There is no standard way they are processed for these effects and therefore no fda approved studies have been done yet.

can echinacea cause tingling? when i take echinacea for cold i get tingling in my feet. what could be the cause?

Echinacea: Adverse reactions can include: abdominal pain, acute renal failure, hypersensitivity, arrhythmias, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, erythema, exanthema, fever, dyspepsia, headache, hepatitis, leukopenia, nausea, rash, sore throat, and unpleasant taste.

can echinacea goldenseal help with my recurring sinus and cold issues? are there any risk? so tired of antibiotics and shots

Can try it: You can try it. It will help treat your symptoms and is non toxic. Let your doctor know you are using it and if you get worse be checked. All the best, feel better.

i'm new to zoloft and just want to be sure it's okay to take echinacea, cold meds/remedies, and tylenol (acetaminophen)? not all at once.. just in general

Generally safe: Zoloft (sertraline) can generally be taken with many over the counter medications and herbal supplements.  The best way resource may be the pharmacy staff at your local pharmacy.  Just ask them about any medications you purchase and whether there may be potential interactions between what you are already taking.

can i give my 4 yr old and 15 mo old herbal suppliments to help avoid the colds the 4 yr old brings home from preschool? echinacea, vit c, and muliti vitamin? or can you suggest some?

According : According to the national institute of health center for complimentary and alternative (cam) medicine, there is no conclusive scientific evidence that any cam therapy prevents colds or substantially reduces their duration or severity in adults or children. I cannot recommend using any supplements or vitamins children for the common cold.  The cure for the common cold is still a mystery!  there's nothing wrong with giving a multivitamin or vitamin c, but they won't help with a cold.

The best methods for treating congestion in an infant/toddler are saline nasal drops, nasal suctioning with a bulb syringe and a cool or warm mist humidifier. Keeping them hydrated has also shown to help.  There are no safe cough or cold medications for children under 4 years of age.

Good handwashing can help prevent the spread of cold viruses.

If your child seems to be having difficulty breathing, call their doctor right away.

Anytime a child has difficulty breathing (respiratory distress), they need immediate medical attention. The signs of respiratory distress are:

-rapid breathing (more than 60 times a minute) 
-grunting or gasping with breathing 
-flaring of the nostrils 
-working hard and using extra muscles to breathe such as sucking in at the neck or under the rib cage 
-blue or dusky coloring 
-change in speech or level of alertness.

According : According to the national institute of health center for complimentary and alternative medicine, there is no evidence that shows that echinacea is protective against illness or speeds recovery.  It was a very popular supplement 5 years ago, but as research started to show that it was ineffective in a adults and especially children, it began to fall out of favor.  I would not recommend using it children.
