i think i have swimmers ear (water trapped in my ear) its not causing me any pain but is really annoying. what will remove the water?

Accepted Answer

See below.: You can use an over-the-counter product called Swim-ear or Auri-dry.These are drops that you put in your ear and should help to dry out the water.If they cause pain,or this feeling continues,you should see your doctor to make sure that water is the cause.Swimmer's ear is when the water causes an infection of the skin of the ear canal. Please see your doctor if this does not help.

did nasal irrigation (like neti pot) in feb. and water got stuck in my ears. water is gone but ear pressure remains that was not present before. why?

Accepted Answer

Probable Eustachian : Either the saline irritated the eustachian tube or some of the irrigant got into the middle ear.  It is not clear how long it may take to clear but in children may take 3months.  The sensation may also be from the illness that started the process in the first place.

Cerumen: Ear wax is shedded skin flakes and is normal although in some people it is excessive and may clog the ear canal in which case it has to be removed by aspiration or washing it out with a syringe.

is it ok just to clean my new pierced ear with water?

Accepted Answer

City water, yes: If municipal running water, in general, yes--studies have shown it can be better for the wounds we see in the er, due to volume available, so don't be stingy. If scab/crust, should use half hydrogen peroxide and water to help prevent the build up.

i used debrox and let it sit for 15 minutes and attempted to flush my ear with water, but nothing came out. should i repeat the process

Accepted Answer

Use it longer: Although i never recommend debrox, I do not think that using it once is going to give you much help.  First, are you sure you have much wax in your ear canal that requires you to use anything?  If you have a hearing loss and think that wax is blocking your ear, i certainly would have this confirmed by an ENT doctor who not only can confirm wax but can safely remove this blockage.

i just put ear drops in and my ears seems water clogged is this normal!

Accepted Answer

Yes: The moisture makes it feel that there is water stopping up your ear canal.  The feeling should go away.

i have grommets in both my ears and water got into my ears and now i am struggling with earache what can i do to ease the pain?

?infection: best to get your GP to have look inside the ears to make sure that there's no infection. Alternatively, you can do a virtual consult through the Discovery app or website and we'll discuss.

Powdery stuff: The white powdery stuff can be old dried out cerumen or wax. Also it could be the remains of debris in your ears or the remains of a fungal infection

i used rubbing alcohol to drain ears of water post swimming. now have burning and stabbing sensations in ear for several hours. did i damage them?

Accepted Answer

Well...: It is unlikely that you have irreversible damage.   Next time educate yourself as to how to get that water out of your ear.  You should dilute the alcohol quite a bit.
If by tomorrow you still have all the symptoms and they are not subsiding, you should see a Dr.

i keep thinking im going deaf.  i have severe anxiety attacks and am scared of going deaf.  i cleaned my ears with water now i think i've damaged 2 ear?

Possible: Even young people can go deaf , but not common  , see your doctor  for examination and for hearing test.
