: Tinnitus occurs when you experience ringing or other noises in your ears &amp; isn't caused by external sounds. Tinnitus is generally caused by an underlying condition such as age-associated hearing loss, infection, meds, an injury to the ear or a circulatory system problem. Tinnitus improves with treatment of the underlying cause. You should therefore be examined by a physician as soon as possible!

See Doctor: Wax, aka cerumen, can cause this. So can eustachian tube dysfunction from allergies or a common cold.  See a doctor if it continues for more than a week.

Muffled Hearing: This is often due to fluid in the middle ear.  Often decongestants or antihistamines can help.  A formal exam of the ear canal and middle ear would be helpful.

No: This is something called tinitus, which can be secondary to exposure to loud noises.

Depends: There are a few cells that do not regenerate, brain cells and hearing cells.  Dependong on the repetative nature of the gun shots and loud noises, you hope the hearing comes back in 2-3 days.  If the loss persists, you need to get an evaluation by ent. Always wear protective hearing aides/ear protection when shooting a gun or performing activites with loud noises (leaf blowing, weed whacking, etc).

Eustachian tube...: It sounds like your eustachian tube might be blocked, preventing your ear from equalizing pressure on either side of your ear drum. This can happen when you have cold symptoms like congestion. Drinking extra fluids can sometimes help loosen things up to reopen the tube. Also chewing gum, sucking on candy or yawning helps.Lastly, Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or a nose spray like afrin can help open things up.

Middle ear fluid: When there is a build up of fluid in the middle ear it's common to experience that. It can turn in to an infection but usually you just need to get the fluid to drain. The safest way to do that is to use a plain saline nose spray or netti pot. You could also try 3 -5 five days of using afrin (oxymetazoline) nose spray to open the eustachian tube to the ear.

i went to a party & the music was way too loud. i was standing close to the speakers & now my ears are ringing. this was sunday. when can i expect the ringing to stop? i feel like everything sounds lower as well.

Ear issues: It may simply be that the eustachian tubes are blocked due to swelling or fluid behind the ears. It should resolve on its own but if it does not you should see your pcp for a possible ear drum rupture.

Relax: It is likely the drainage tube (Eustachian) linking your middle ear to your throat is a bit swollen. This allows a vacuum to form in your middle ear.When you chew or yawn the tube straightens &amp; air can enter to undue the vacuum. The effect produces sound. It is benign &amp; should fade over time. Have your doc check this if it spooks you.
