ive been taking oratane 20mg for 2.5weeks. since thursday night have had severe back & hip pain on & off, night chills/sweats, mild diarrhea&muscle aches in my whole body. last dose of oratane friday pm. are these side effects&when will they improve?

Doubtful : These systemic symptoms are more likely from an intestinal viral infection. I advise resting, drink adequate fluids, follow a bland diet with no roughage and take acetaminophen for aching. Such an infection will gradually improve over several days. If not, or if symptoms worsen,  discontinue oratane and see your physician.. A dermatologist or your pharmacist can advise you further about Oratane.

See below: Serious side effects can be severe blistering skin rashes, jaundice, gastrointestinal bleeding, weakness with shortness of breath, severe headaches, swelling, and severe flu-like symptoms. Development of these symptoms requires urgent medical evaluation

If none of above, just call oncologist and report symptoms per phone.  But do this be4 the 11/17 visit

took 20 days of levaquin in nov, in january started having cramps, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite ever since. can side effects of levaquin last that long? tested negative for c diff ?

: The Levaquin probably is not the cause. Too much time passed from when you took it and onset of your cramps etc several weeks later; and that sort of problem (without C diff) would not last this long. See a doctor about this. Good luck.

It doesn't: A cold is a viral upper respiratory infection characterized by sore throat, runny and congested nose.  A cold does not cause diarrhea. Enteroviruses, norovirus, rotavirus an others can cause intestinal infection and diarrhea that resolves after several days.  There are also many other conditions that cause diarrhea. If yours persists see your doctor.

Black stool is BAD.: This could indicate a GI bleed.You should go to the ER to be tested for blood in the stool.This could be a life-threatening emergency.Take action,NOW.( unless , if you took Peptobismal.This turns stool black)

Not likely: A problem but make sure you got a screening colonoscopy, make sure not an ulcer and blood causing diarrhea, but periodic diarrhea without wt loss not huge concern.

Exam: You must be examined and follow a clear fluid diet as follows:NO SOLID FOODS FOR 48 HOURS
Force fluids: 8-10 glasses/day:
Electrolyte rich fluids- Gatorade, Powerade, Vitamin Water
Protein rich fluids: broth bullion, consume.
AVOID ALL CITRUS JUICES: orange, grapefruit, pineapple, cranberry etc.
Avoid all aspirin, Advil, Aleve (naproxen) ( NSAIDS ).
If not improving go to private physician or ER.
