A few possibilities: Rosacea is less likely however there are a few other possibilities such as seborrheic dermatitis. It may be worthwhile to see your provider for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

Baby skin: My first thought is that the soap/shampoo you are using is too drying for your infant. Despite what the baby soap manufacturers lead you to think, many baby soaps are very drying to infant skin. Decrease how often you bathe the infant, use a soap with a built in moisturizer, and use a lotion/cream moisturizer on dry areas once or twice every single day. Baby skin is thin and vulnerable to dryness.

Could be eczema: atopic eczema can present as dry skin, that's one of the common presentations, try skin care tactics like cream soap and moisturizers right after bathing while skin is bit wet, if that doesn't work, please see his doctor, good luck

Rash behind ears: Most commonly weepy scaling dry rash behind ears is either eczema, seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis.  All three of these may respond to topical medications such as cortisone creams, however weeping may also mean that the rash is infected. An evaluation by your dermatologist and possibly a test for the presence of a bacterial infection would be best.

i have dry skin on the outer part of my inner ear if that makes sense where the ear folds it's all dry skin behind, what is this and what can i do?

Possible eczema: Could be eczema, if normal moisturizer cream and lotion not helping, could try a bit of hydrocortisone cream, but if no change or recurs even after use for a few days, see an MD, skin cancer is always possible, especially on the sun exposed ear, and if only unilateral dryness.

Seb derm: Seborrheic dermatitis (seb derm) is a chronic intermittent rash typically affecting the face, ears, scalp, &amp; trunk.
This condition is believed to result from overactive sebaceous glands (seborrhea) &amp; inflammation. The mainstay of treatment includes topical anti-fungal agents alone or in combination with topical steroids. Recommend that you see a dermatologist to get it under control.

Dry skin: Your son may have an infection or other condition that requires special treatment.  Make an appointment to see your pediatrician concerning this problem.

Seborrheic dermatiti: You are describing seborrheic dermatitis that occurs behind the ears, between the eyebrows, and around the nose.  This is not dry skin.  Moisturizers will just aggravate it.  Wash with soap.  If the condition doesn't clear, see your dermatologist.
