Hives: A 23 year old female with itchy hives that turn to scabs or scaly dry patches for one week. Hives can be caused by multiple different things - sometimes infection, food, medication, insect stings, environmental allergens, etc. If hives last a long time, often no found cause. Take an oral antihistamine and visit your health care provider for further evaluation.

i have some dry scaly patches on my calves that drain constantly. they itch excessively at night & its hard to not scratch them. there are times they dont drain, but they drain mostly at night & its a yellowish drainage. ?

Scaly: I would suggest getting evaluated by your doctor or a gynecologist. If at risk, it would be necessary to check for stds. Sometimes, however, sometimes the skin can get irritated. A biopsy can help too.

Could be a cyst: you need to see a dctor,it could be a cyst with potential infection,or a gland,see your doctor

Petroleum jelly: Forehead is an odd place but it could be eczema but i would see your pediatrician.  In general, any good moisturizer would work but petroleum jelly (vaseline) and aquophor are very good at trapping moisture and improving the eczema.  You can also use steroid creams but would consult with your pediatrician first.

my baby, 15m, had a diaper rash for 2months. red patchs, dry and rough skin, itchiness, it's expanding. used candid cream, coconut oil, and no diapers. looks like dermatitis with dead skin buildup and scaly patches. please suggest some ointment.

Work up: Please avoid coconut oil on the skin. An inbox consultation with Healthtap may be useful to you and your pediatrician.  The rash may result in a secondary infection. Watch for signs of drainage, swelling and redness. The Candida yeast infection is usually treatable topically. A culture may be sent to confirm the diagnosis. Use a diaper cream with zinc to promote healing. Consider immune testing.
