Unusual and no: Scabies cannot live on hair because there is no blood supply. Scalp infestation for some reason is very unusual in adults, but much more common in infants and toddlers.

i have been treated for scabbies with ivermectin and permethrin. it seemed to have gotten rid of them but i still have itching .my scalp a itches like crazy with no rash no real rash ,looks like hives and occasional clear blister . is this norm?

: I'm so sorry! Itching is awful! Scabies can itch for 2 weeks after treatment, have to wait for all the scabies bugs and eggs to not only be dead but to be completely gone. Antihistamines like Loratadine in the day or diphenhydramine at night can help. If it has been longer than 2 weeks, I would look for other causes including things like eczema.

i am recovering from scabies but sometimes feel prickly sensations. is this active or anxiety related?  and can scabies be in the scalp?

Either: There is no rule prohibiting scabies mites from invading any particular area of the skin.  You may continue to itch for some time after being treated because reacting to products of the bugs still present in tissues.  Anxiety may also play a role, but difficult to differentiate.

Oral plus topical: For encrusted scabies, you need to use oral Ivermectin along with topical permethrin. In addition, you must wash all of your clothes and bedding every day in hot water to kill the mites in the cloth. Scabies is tricky to treat sometimes but with time, a bit of care and patience it can be done, .

Not : Not commonly so i would see a dermatologist for definitive diagnosis.  I wonder whether this is more likely seborrhea or psoriasis or possibly fungal infection.  See a picture and read about treatment options for seborrheic dermatitis at the link below.  I hope that helps!

Probably not Scabies: Scabies infestations tend to make you itch in all the private places, and on your arms and legs.  If your scalp is the only part of your body involved its more likely you have head lice. They are tough enough. Oral ivermectin?: There's no obvious reason the treatment (probably permethrin or lindane) cannot be used on the scalp, but it should be kept out of the eyes and mouth. Alternatively, if necessary, scabies can be treated with ivermectin, an oral treatment effective in a single dose. Discuss both options with your doctor.

i may have contracted scabies from work, i have been using a shampoo w/tea tree oil in it , showered with it and put tee tree 5% oil in lotion and put all over my body from scalp down..is tea tree oil effective treatment, and how often should i do it?
