what is best to treat a dry heaving cough?

Diagnose first....: Before any cough can be treated, the cause of the cough must be diagnosed. Common causes of cough include acute bronchitis, bronchospasm from any etiology, post-nasal drip, gerd, etc. All of these causes have entirely different treatments and a cough can be due to more than one condition. Therefore, see your doctor so your cough can be diagnosed and then treated.

Bronchitis: Sounds like you might have bronchitis. See your doctor. An inhaler may provide some relief.

Mgt: I would suggest an evaluation for bronchospasm with a pulmonary function test with and without bronchodilator use as part of your visit with your PCP.

Sounds like asthma: and cough spells could be precipitated by a multitude of triggers or co morbidities, such as chronic sinus infection , uppper respiratory tract chronic inflammation, airway hyper-responsiveness or GERD, so you need to see an allergist/immunologist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, goodluck

many possibilities: Cough is a reflex to clear the lungs but when it is severe or recurrent, an evaluation is necessary.  It can be related to various infections (viral, bacterial, less likely fungus) including pneumonia or bronchitis.  Recurrent cough can be related to stomach acid reflux. Sinus infection, allergies and asthma.  A foreign body in the airway or esophagus can cause a severe cough.

Seek help: sorry to hear her condition not improving.  i strongly suggest you find her symptoms further if this is in passing due to a viral etiology or something more serious with your primary or pediatrician.

Dry  heaving: If dry heaving is getting worse I strongly suggest you have someone take you to the nearest Emergency. Could be a minor issue or something worse  but that is unlikely.

: Bulimia is a behavior disorder and the vomit is self induced, not a symptom. You have this symptom from a different condition which should be identified and it has nothing to do with bulimia.

Many causes: Dry heaving has many causes, but usually due to irritation of the stomach or upper small intestine-like   alcohol, ulcers or infection, pancreatitis or gall bladder trouble. If there is any associated chest or arm pain, the heart or lungs can be the source- in which case you need to be seen right away
