Well : In general it is known that drinking alcohol particularly to excess can cause irregular heartbeat arrhythmias a rapid heartbeat which recommended avoiding alcohol or limiting it to 1 ounce of alcohol per day. At age 29 with no other risk factors a person with a normal stress test and echo and EKG are low risk for coronary heart disease. Consult your primary care physician and cardiologist

whenever i eat carbs or drink alcohol my heart races and skips. what is my problem? i'm 22 and have had ekg and a stress test done. bp is normal.

Drinking too much??: I don't know the issue with carbs, except that if you have reactive hypoglycemia and are taking in too much simple sugar, you can get periods of low blood sugar which can cause a racing heart.  Alcohol is a different story, which is itself toxic to the heart in high doses, and can cause cardiac arrhythmias, especially svt and atrial fibrillation. Talk to your doctor about your drinking.

Need a Holter : Monitor, a 24 hr device. Alcohol does make the palpitations worse, so does caffeine.  Ekg will be normal in between episodes.

left sided chest pain hurts to press on , quite localized but worse when drinking alcohol? could it still be cardiac? have had normal ecg and echo.

Probably gastritis. : If alcohol makes it worse it's probably GI and not cardiac. Try taking some Pepcid (famotidine) 20mg twice a day for about 6 weeks, and lay off the booze for a while. Hope this helps.

burnt my esophagus from hot gravy causing chest pain. went to a&e had ecg, bloods,chest xray,all ok! ive waited 3 weeks since the incident before attempting to drink alcohol but drinking has given me chest pain again. whys this? will it settle down?

Possible heartburn: Using an over the counter antacid may be helpful in relieving heartburn. Avoid alcohol until re evaluated. a barium swallow can provide additional information, as indicated. 
Eat less acidic foods and avoid spicy foods,  foods with angles and sharp edges such as chips. Yogurt daily is also recommended. Please follow up with your PCP.

?fractured rib: It sounds like you may have fractured a rib and perhaps as it healed it scared down and the scar impinges on a costal (rib) nerve.  Not sure what the alcohol does, but maybe it relaxes you and allows the rib fracture region to move downward and make the impingement.  Other possibilities.  You need an MRI of the area in question to be sure.

19 y.o, male, non-smoker, no drinking alcohol.i have palpitations and ectopic beats  last 6 months for first of my life . seen cardiologists my echocardiograms were normal my blood , thiroid , vitamin d tests were normal. how can i get ride of them?

Ectopy: If your outpatient cardiac monitoring documented the presence of ectopic beats during your symptom of palpitations, you may consider being treated for the ectopy even if it was felt to consist 
 of benign PVC's or PAC's with no runs of tachycardia. ? A treadmill stress test to determine effect of exercise on your ectopy. ?a 2nd opinion 
 by a cardiologist specializing in electrophysiology..

Possible causes: Redness or itching after drinking alcohol could be an allergic reaction.  It could also be related to a deficiency of aldehyde dehydrogenase, an enzyme that breaks down alcohol.

Accepted Answer

No: You have virtually no risk in catching HIV even if you kiss that person.  It will even be more unlikely that the virus would survive the alcohol.
