i am having pain in my intertragal notch of my ear. when ever i press on my targus the pain intensifies, it feels like there is a residue building up, like crums of ear wax or dried blood but im not sure. no effect to my hearing. what should i do?

: You may have an infection of the outer ear canal, called otitis externa. To diagnose this, a doctor would need to look into your ear canal with an otoscope and see if there is any drainage in the ear canal. You would then be treated with antibiotic ear drops, if present, and perhaps an oral antibiotic depending on how it responds to the ear drops. So, see a doctor who can look into your ears.

Scratch: The likely source of the blood is abrasion to the ear canal wall caused by the q-tip, if not at this time, then previously. In general, we advise you never use a q-tip or any solid device in your ear as it is a blind procedure and you're likely to impact the wax (push it against the drum). Liquids are okay like warmed oil, hydrogen peroxide, or cerumenex. Doctors use an otoscope or mirror to see.

Possible infection: You need to see an ENT physician maybe the one who placed the tubes.  It may be infected or granulation tissue around the tubes.  They should not be bleeding.

Ear wax: Have never heard of an ear wax "test".   Wax is just made up of dead skin and oils secreted from glands. Not much you could learn from it by having it "tested" so i would say not real.
