Yes: Tamoxifen is the medical treatment of choice for gynecomastia.  If gynecomastia has been there less than 6 mths then medicine can often cause it to shrink. However, if it has been there longer then it often will develop fibrosis or scar tissue and can only be removed at that point with surgery.  So surgery is usually recommended when of longer duration or medicine does not work.

Robin,: Calcium citrate does not have potassium; calcium carbonate doesn't either.  Some people tolerate one better than the other, they are equivalent in my  view.

Check again: Not sure what &quot;recon surgery&quot; means but please do not take an elevated tumor marker as a certainty for cancer. You did not say how much it went up but remember there can be lab errors and even if it&#x27;s a true elevation, it may not have any meaning. A tumor marker can go up for other reasons. I see nothing wrong with repeating one in a short interval.  Hope it all goes well.

Yes: Tamoxifen is used to prevent breast cancer  where it suppresses estrogen binding, it can  act as an estrogenic  stimulus on  ovarian tissue initiating  ovulation induction by a mechanism similar to clomiphene citrate. This drug Clomid is able to bind to estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus. preventing the brain from seeing the negative signal from estrogen This stimulates production of FSH.

What is the question: I am sorry that i never heard Celexa or Effexor (venlafaxine) being used for hot flashes but it may have been used for mood instability , irritability or  depression. A good diet high in protein and low in carbohydrates and fat may help with weight loss along with aerobic exercise. Topamax may help with the mood swings and it also seems to help with weight loss.

total knee replacement and breast cancer here (tamoxifen/zometa) my dr gave me 4 pills (keflex 500mg) to take 1 hour before dental work. is this ok? it seems like a lot all at once?

: It is okay to take the medication as prescribed. It is to prevent infection in case of breach or contamination of the blood during surgery.

Blocks estrogen: Some breast cancer cells have receptors on them that bind to estrogen in order to grow. Tamoxifen acts as an "antagonist" and blocks estrogen from binding to these receptors on the cancer cells by binding to them first. With tamoxifen sitting in estrogen's place, the cancer cell can no longer grow.

Once per day: Tamoxifen is most commonly used to treat breast cancer.  The dose is (usually) 20mg per day and taken for 5 years.  This medication is also used for people considered "high risk" for breast cancer to help decrease their risk of developing it in the future.
I recommend you speak with your oncologist about specific recommendations for your case.

Pregnancy should be avoided when on tamoxifen due to it's association with birth defects in animal studies.
