every psych med i try gives me side effects. last one double vision so couldn't drive. are there meds out there less likely to have side effects ?

This is a toughie: You're 1 of those unlucky people whose tolerance of a broad spectrum of drugs is poor. This is important drug wisdom: Drugs that have few side effects are also likely to have fewer therapeutic effects. A possible approach may be "rational polypharmacy" where you add extremely low doses of 2 or 3 drugs cautiously 1 at a time; the drugs having complementary mechanisms of action. Good luck!

i have had progressively worsening blurry/ double vision, one sided tinnitus and a spaced out feeling for one year. brain and orbits mri with contrast was clear. ophthalmology report clear. could i still have a brain tumor?

Cardiac evaluation : Please see your physician for a Cardiology evaluation. An EKG and chest X-ray may be indicated.Avoid sugary foods and have basic metabolic screening blood work.

VADouble to the side: Horizontal diplopia ( images look doubled side to side not on top of one another) when looking to extreme side most likely a weakness of lateral rectus muscles, born with or acquired types. Sometimes a neurologic condition ms or uncontrolled diabetes or blood pressure . If recent onset definite see an md eye doc for help.

Positional blurring : This sounds vascular and I would strongly suggest evaluation by an ophthalmologist or internist. A lot depends on your age and underlying conditions. A phone call may have to due until the epidemic clears, but don’t hesitate to make that call. I would have many more questions if this space allowed for more. Take care.

No: also, double vision is usually the result of having eyes that don't converge on the same focal point. Hence "double vision". Would see an eye doctor asap.

Accepted Answer

Probably: If temporary and does not recur, double vision in one eye is usually due to a tear film issue that is corrected with blinking or artificial tears.  If only one eye but more constant, then could be astigmatism, cataract, epiretinal membrane, or some other monocular cause.

Divergence palsy: When you look at a distance, the in-turning muscles relax, the out-turning muscles tighten. In your case, the out-turning muscles are week- could be medical side-effect, stroke effect, decompensated eye crossing, other neurologic disorder.
If the amount of prisms becomes excessive, have eye muscle surgery.
Contac a "pediatric" ophthalmologist who does a lot of muscle surgery.

can you get double vision but in one eye?

Yes: The common form of doubling is when the eyes are misaligned with each other.  If the doubling occurs in one eye only the following must be looked for and dealt with: 1) higher degrees of astigmatism  2) corneal aberrations 3) lens opacities that are not uniform  4) retinal (macular) wrinkling.  See your ophthalmologist who can sort this out and recommend the best correction.
