Do a pregnancy test: If you miss more than 24 hours of pills, then you are not "safe" from pregnancy. So you should do an OTC test first before you start the next pack. If you have been sexually active during that week, than you need to wait at least 10 days after sex  to know that you are not pregnant. If that is the case, then start the next pack. You should use a backup method for that cycle.

Birth control: The birth control pill can make the lining of the uterus very thin and therefore some people have nothing to slough off to give them a period. This can also be from the effect of doubling up on the pill earlier. As long as pregnancy tests are negative keep taking pill as usual.

Birth control pills must be taken everyday to work and to regulate the cycle.: If you miss pills then you will withdrawl from hormones and likely trigger spotting or irregular bleeding. The effectiveness of your birth control is at risk as well.

Menopause?: At age 47 it is not uncommon for periods to cease entirely(menopause). Check with your GYN MD to find out if that is the case.

Likely normal: Try to continue pills for at least two cycles, this should subside.

Depo or mirena (levonorgestrel): The Depo-Provera shot is every 3 months and generally people have minimal bleeding.  Another one is the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD it is good for 5 years and people tend to have little to no periods as well. See your doctor for your best option.

Pregnancy test: If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully.
If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. 
Practice safe sex.

when can i restart my pill i'm taking marvalon, i stopped taking it for an operation, do i take it anytime or do i have to wait for my next period?

Today : You can restart your birth control today unless there is a risk that you are pregnant.
