i have just been perscribed with ventolin diskus. after taking a single dose as instructed i got a mild - to heavy headache is this normal?

Maybe: Headaches are a reported side effect of ventolin. But rarely, ventolin can cause really high blood pressure and headaches can be a symptom of really high blood pressure.  You should probably get your blood pressure checked after taking a dose of your inhaler.

Yes: Yes you can - but it is highly recommended that you discuss this with a physician who may be able to figure out if your current medication regimen is appropriate. When an exacerbation of asthma is present ventolin can be used every 4 hours or so, but notifying your doctor is a great idea.

Get medical care: Your daughter needs to see a doctor.  If she has all those symptoms she may have pneumonia and will need to be treated.  If she is breathing rapidly or with difficulty she will need medical care. In most instances, ventolin/ albuterol syrup has fallen out of favor as treatment for asthma and wheezing.

Ventolin inhaler: The preferred route of administration for ventolin (albuterol) is by inhaler with holding chamber or via nebulizer.  While ventolin syrup is still available, it's use is uncommon as there are significantly more side effects and doesn't work better than the inhaled route.

With work doc: You need to get in with your PCP or asthma doc and work on your asthma action plan. Use of ventolin several times a day means you are in poor control and need a better plan of action. Your seretide likely needs adjusting but you may need a burst of oral steroids to start. A personal peak flow meter &amp; diary are also important.

Viral Bronchiolitis?: I think your baby may have a viral bronchiolitis (cold with deep cough/wheeze). Treatment is a bit controversial. Some will use saline for the nose (spray/drops) and many will opt for asthma like care. Oral albuterol has grown out of favor for nebulizer treatments in the us. Albuterol is probably the main medication give via aerosol 3-4 times daily to help the cough and congestion.

Asthma triggers: Asthma can have different triggers, you seem to have two:1.  gastric reflux so watch your diet for caffeine, alcohol, spices. Acid reducing meds and elevating the head of your bed. 2. you also seems to have aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease AERD, that is aggravated with Ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory meds, be careful and avoid, use only Tylenol.
