Cyst: Without having seen the images, I can only talk in general.  White areas on MRI are commonly cysts or fatty tumors.  These are benign and not to worry about.  Occasionally, a white area can be a cancer or infection but this is easily differentiated from a cyst or lipoma.  Your doctor should be able to tell the difference from the pictures.

No: It is a benign process. Arachnoid cyst is just accumulation of fluid. If it is small and no mass effect which means it does not put pressure on brain or cerebellum, then it should not be blamed for any symptoms.

This is: a relatively common anatomic variation, present in up to 10% or so of the population.  It is generally asymptomatic.  There is some evidence to suggest a higher incidence of future posterior circulation stroke.

Yes: Any injury to the brain can affect mood or personality. It may be temporary though.  Also it is common to get depressed after a stroke and treatment for depression can be very , very helpful now and during the recovery.   Talk to the neurologist.  Good luck!

Posterior fossa arachnoid cysts may have headaches and vertigo ascribed to them but it is likely that other problems such as arthritis in the neck or inner ear pathology are the actual cause. Most arachnoid cysts are observed. Creating windows in the cysts to drain to other cerebrospinal fluid pathways or placing a shunt is performed for symptomatic cysts.

Yes, but exam needed: Yes it is possible to have asymmetry I’m bone size.  But...if you have a large, fixed and hard neck mass, an exam is a must to rule out other scary possibilities.  Good luck!

The mass of the brain also decreases after injuries, such as traumatic injury, stroke, MS, or illnesses, such as certain infections, brain tumors, or dementia.
