You're not pregnant: Why do you ask if you say you're not pregnant? Oh well.. Most plastic surgeons would prefer that elective work be delayed until after birth, even after nursing is past. But if you find one who'd do it - you still need to clear it w/ the OBGYN. The best idea is to wait and avoid unnecessary risks. You may even decide that it's not as important as you once thought - babys can rearrange priorities.

Cold in pregnancy: Whether you are pregnant or not, there is no specific treatment for a common cold. The best you can do is symptomatic relief and minimize the duration of symptoms. Antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Claritin are mostly category b, but decongestants such as sudafed and cough medicines such as Robitussin or Mucinex are mostly category c. Avoid category c. Try saline nasal rinsing, rest and fluids.

Antihistamines: Otc antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) as well as longer acting  nondrowsy formulations such as Claritin have been standard recommendations for years. However if you want to avoid medicines cleaning out the nasal passages with a neti pot or saline spray is also helpful and flushes out allergens such as pollen as well.

Local medicine: Numbing spray is a local and not systemic means of anesthesia and will not affect the pregnancy.

Yes: I give a list of medications that are safe to take during pregnancy for a variety of conditions.  In general it is relatively safe to use pseudophed, tylenol (acetaminophen) cold, benedry, afrin or neosynephrine nasal spray and plain robitussin.  However, not knowing your other health problems this is just a general list.

are nosebleeds common during pregnancy? ill be 31 weeks in two days & i just finished crying hysterically & i kinda wiped my nose with the back of my hand & saw blood. is this normal? no blood actually dripped out but its there when i use tissue?

Blood in nose: Increased nasal congestion is quite common during pregnancy. About 20% of women can experience nose bleeds during pregnancy. There is increased blood volume during pregnancy, which can increase pressure and if small blood vessels break it could cause a nose bleed. Crying hard can also increase risk.

Pregnancy: Nosebleeds are somewhat more common during pregnancy because of increased circulating volume and hormones. Don't worry, just be prepared with some tissues in your pocket. Sit down and tilt your head back and apply pressure for 5-10 minutes, use a cold pack to decrease blood flow to your nose. Nasal congestion can increase during pregnancy too. Explore this NIH link:

never had allergies, i am now in second trimester with a stuffy nose, sometimes itchy eye and sneezy but no other symptoms. could i have developed allergies. if so is this only during pregnancy?

ALLERGIC RHINITIS : PROGESTETONE  IS THE HOTMONE OF PRENANCY. One of its many secondary side effects is flaring allergies. Swelling of nasal mucosa/itchy eyes /post nasal drip. You can do nasal irrigation with Neil Med system. Zaditor (ketotifen) Eye Drops and clRitin are all effective.

second trimester, shortness of breath, stuffy nose, lower back pain. are these all common during 23 weeks. will they get worst or better for the remaining of pregnancy? how to ease them in the meantim

OB-GYN exam: Please consult your OB-GYN since you have multiple symptoms and no- these are not all normal except for the lower back pain which is common. Most OB-GYN physician recommend little or no mediciation: call for advice.
