No: Glucosamine is a building block in the formation of knee cartilage, so some have  recommended taking it as a dietary supplement to improve the health of your knee cartilage.  In a knee arthroplasty, the cartilage is removed and the knee is resurfaced/replaced with a metal and plastic prosthesis.  Since there is no cartilage left, any benefit, which is theoretical anyway, would not be seen.

Not generally: The knee replacement is stable at the time that it is performed. We use your own ligaments and tendons and do not generally harm them during surgery. There are cases where the ligaments (such as the mcl) are stretched during surgery, were moved and reconstructed, or were weak to begin with. In these cases, the knee brace is critical after surgery.

Knee Replacement: Typically 6 weeks. The wound heals in 2 weeks. Physical therapy continues another 4-6 weeks. In case of cemented  knee , the patient is walking on it the very next day.

Anterior & vertical: The typical knee arthroplasty scar is anterior and runs in line with the lower extremity. It appears longer when the knee is flexed than when it is extended. It is longer in larger or more obese individuals. It is wider in keloid formers.  Most surgeons minimize the length of their incisions to prevent unnecessary damage to adjacent structures, but will lengthen it if they are unable to see well.
