can oatmeal, sugar, and milk cause constipation?

Constipation: Some foods pull water into the stool (like prunes) and some foods remove water (like cereals and rice).  To prevent constipation -- if you are otherwise well --  make sure you are taking in enough fluids and plenty of fruits and vegetables.  Fluids in foods, tea, coffee, and water all count, but to be healthy, limit your intake of sugary drinks and alcohol.

Sugar: Unless you check your blood sugar you cannot know whether you are taking too much or not.

No: Because the active ingredient in dupholac, Lactulose, is itself a sugar. However, how it works is that it is not absorbed by the body but instead broken down to acids, which act to hold water in the stools to soften them and make them easier to pass, thereby alleviating constipation.

No: It is the other way round. Changes in blood sugar are a reflection of poor diet that results in many symptoms including constipation and bloating.

my paed recommended that my 4 week old baby be moved onto novalac ac for gas and winds. she is now suffering from constipation and i give her treacle sugar in her bottles once/twice a day for relief. should i move her onto another formula or leave?

pediatrics: The baby should continue on her usual formula. No sugar should be added to the formula. Please see your Pediatrician to follow up. Ensure that the baby is well hydrated and receiving enough formula. For fever and/or vomiting please see acute care.

Not dangerous : But too much, you may have bloating and cramps. If chronically constipated or suffer IBS, kindly ask for referral to a gastroenterologist for in depth management if current treatment isn't controlling your symptoms, good luck

Define and use natrl: If your baby is having firm stools that are hard to pass, i accept the label.If breast fed, stooling less often and skipping days i would leave it alone if still soft. Bf infants can stool a little every feed or a crib full once a week.Formula fed kids are expected to go daily. I've had success with undiluted prune or apple juice, 1oz once or twice daily.Water may also help

i'm on grain dairy/legume nut sugar candida free diet (nutritionist suggested it and still terribly constipated. what am i doing wrong? help me please

Things to consider:: Are you drinking enough water?  Are you eating enough fat?  Both are necessary for "lubrication".  Are you eating enough vegetables?  Are you taking probiotics?  Have you ruled out other causes of constipation like thyroid disease.  You should follow-up with your doctor and speak to your nutritionist about next steps.

Try high fiber diet: It is important to have proper diet.  You are young and it is good to get into the habit of eating right.  Diet high in fiber which includes daily servings of fruits and vegetables is important.  Oat bran cereal, wheat bread, quinoa etc. Are also high in fiber content.  Diet rich in meat alone does not give one enough fiber.
