Need more not less!: If you have a problem with two MTHFR genes, you actually need folic acid supplementation. Foods high in folate will help you not hurt you. I usually recommend 4mg of folic acid a day, along with 1000ug of B-12 and 100mg B-6 per day and a bab aspirin. Some women with the MTHFR defect have repeated miscarriages. In my experience, the above supplements decrease the risk of this. Best wishes!

No: Blood folate (folic acid) levels do not tell anything about stores of iron in the body. Are you sure you are not confusing ferritin levels with folate (folic acid)? Ferritin levels are a valid indicator of iron stores.

Will pass soon but:: You can not have too much folate but folic acid is a synthetic substance that can be toxic to some degree. Your body will eliminate it naturally and nothing is known to speed that, but do not take any more vitamins with folic acid; instead take L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate.
There is no known toxicity from B12 but if you have not been taking B12 see a doctor.

Hmmm...: There are hundreds or more conditions and diseases that can cause "feeling weakness" in one's body. So, why suspect low iron? A doctor might consider ordering some basic lab tests to check one's blood count, iron levels, chemistries, etc...  That means, if this "feeling weakness" is worrisome or more than a few days in duration, a visit to the doctor is helpful.

: Exercise, lose excess weight, eat plenty of vegetables, lean proteins, water. Be sure you are up to date on measles, mumps, and rubella titers. Eat small portions of good fats olive oil, walnuts, almonds. Very important to get a physical from your primary care doctor to rule out diabetes, anemia, thyroid disease, HIV.
