Gynecomastia, benign:  enlargement of breast tissue, occurs in up to 70 % of males during puberty. It is caused by a normal, transient relative imbalance between female &amp; male hormones. It usually resolves by 18 when adult ratios are achieved. He does need to see his pediatrician for an exam to determine if there&#x27;s any need for lab tests. His doctor can educate &amp; reassure him that it should be gone by 18.

: Nipples, both female and male, occur in a variety of sizes and shapes. The fact that your nipples get "nice and hard" due to exposure to cold is normal.  Puberty suggests penile enlargement and origin of facial and pubic hair.Nipples are generally not a sign of delayed maturity.  Age19 is within the range of puberty, but if you fail to have signs of puberty, I would see a trusted physician.

Gynecomastia: You may have gynecomastia, which is enlarged breast tissue in males. Or this could just be fat.  There could be an increase of estrogen to testosterone, but hormone levels may be normal.  Many drugs cause this. Adolescent boys get some gynecomastia, and in some it does not fully regress with adulthood.  You should see an endocrinologist. There are some drugs, but they don't work very well.
