Blood in urine. : A single finding needs to be repeated for confirmation. There are many benign as well as pathological conditions that could cause micro hematuria. I would repeat  the urine test and go from there for a more extensive work up, if again positive.

i'm getting conflicting info about amoxicillin, will it cause a false positive for cocaine? i'm getting ready to take a dot physical.

What is your source: There are both and lay medical literature citations which will state a causal relationship between amoxicillin and cocaine in a urine drug test.  However, check this link out. It comes from what I consider to be a highly reputable source which states that there is NO relationship between those 2 things:

my 5 year old son went to the doctor for a school physical.  his urine tested high for protein. the doctor has asked that we get a clean sample in the am.  just wondering what would cause the protein to be elevated?

5%-15% : 5%-15% of all kids will have an elevated urine protein level on a single screening test.  The next step is usually to repeat the test - first thing in the morning is best because there is a non-harmful condition called "orthostatic proteinuria" where kids will have protein in their urine throughout the day, but not in the mornings.  Other benign causes of urine protein are recent fever or physcial activity.  The protein usually clears up in a few days which is why testing again is helpful.  If additional urine tests do not have protein, then no need to worry.

If your child continues to have protein in their urine after multiple tests, than your child's doctor may order additional urine and/or blood tests and imaging studies to look for kidney disease called nephropathy.  Nephropathies can be caused by many things including infections, inheritied disorders, autoimmune problems, and sometimes we don't even know why it happens.  Treatment typically depends on the cause of the problem.

Lowering BP: Yes, increasing the dose of Lisinopril (L) from 10 to 20 mg will reduce your blood pressure. Ask your physician to consider increasing the dose of L to 40 mg, the maximum. It will take about 7-14 days for the L to have its maximum BP lowering effect reflect in your BP readings. Increasing the dose does not increase the risk of any adverse events. Good luck.

No: DOT wants to know if BP is controlled, your BP if not controlled on med could be a problem.  This medication causes no problem with drug testing, impairment, addiction or any operation of a motor vehicle, does not appear on a drug screen

A lot of causes: In young people protein in the urine is usually due to heavy exercise or could be due to standing too long but it usually  is minimal. The most common pathological cause of protein in the urine is diabetes followed by hypertension. Other causes are usually "glomerulonephritis" which are a group of diseases affecting the functional units of the kidneys. If you have protein in the urine call ur doc.

Normal: Hi,
There are many things that cause this and finding trace amounts of protein in urine alone, doesn't indicate presence or absence of disease. For example, things as common as exercise (leading to muscle breakdown) can cause trace amounts of protein to show up on a urinalysis. Hope this helps
