11/30 i had a fundloplication & hernia repair. i have taken colace daily & m of m 45ml q12 hrs x 3 doses with no results. i am on oxycodone and in pain; can't take nsaids d/t interaction. liquid diet for 4 weeks. what else can i do for constipation?

Dulcolax: Slowly decrease the oxy and you are safe to finish up to 3 bottles of MoM daily along with dulcolax suppositories, up to 15 inserted rectally per day.
This sounds excessive but it is safe, you shouldn't start with this amount but work your way up to it until you have regular bowel movements. Stop the colace.

i'm constipated and have a pinched nerve or strain in hip flexor. the bowel movement makes it hurt. more oxycodone just more constipation. what to do?

Non-drug Tx: Right! You're wise to recognize that pain meds increase constipation. Avoid them if possible. Try dietary changes, increased core body activity/exercise after getting doctor's approval and drinking lots of water throughout the day. Accupuncture is often very helpful and yoga may be too. Just clear it w/ Drs. Best!

Normal: Constipation on oxycodone is normal, and it can happen with any narcotics like that as a common side effect.  Try docusate twice daily, a stool softener, to see if that helps.  If that doesn't help, then i would try a laxative.  For quick results (overnight), use bisacodyl (dulcolax) tabs or suppositories.  After that, start taking something like MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) daily and see if that doesn't help.

Dysphoria: One positive reaction to narcotics is "Euphoria" just feeling good!! That's why narcs are abused frequently. Stopping oxy abruptly can in some cases cause "dysphoria"...just feeling terrible. Depression can also be involved, so be sure to watch for any signs of hurting oneself, and seek medical/emotional professional help if that happens.

It depends: Generally opiates relieve pain and anxiety , hence likely to lower blood pressure.  If, however, a patient is going in and out of withdrawal from short acting opiates or is experiencing possible side effects such as sleep apnea or endocrine problems then it is quite possible even likely to see elevations of blood pressure.  Your prescriber should help you with these concerns.

Inflammation: Psa goes up from inflammation. The oxycodone is being taken for pain associated with the inflammation. The oxycodone does not cause a rise in psa&lt;.

i have been taking 1.5mg of suboxone for a month now which is not a lot, if i were to take 24hours off and take 30 mg of oxycodone, would it cause wd?

Don't know: BUT I WOULD NOT TAKE A CHANCE...Furthermore if you are taking Suboxone as a part of a addiction recovery program this would certainly violate your contract!

Potentially: Not common. Opioid withdrawal usually results in flu like symptoms that usually resolve in a few days. The symptoms are rarely life threatening.
