Accepted Answer

Usually does not: Cause trouble except for appearance.  They have a small incidence of turning into sarcoma when they become larger than 4 inches or when they are located beneath muscle layer.  They are soft, so they don't impinge on nerves or blood vessels.

Can be painful: While most people have one to two lipomas, occasionally patients have  multiple lipomas; many  have family members with similar conditions.  Lipomas can be painful, and while very rare, can occur within organs.  Reasons to remove include increased pain or very large size; very rarely malignant.

I'm not clear what you are asking. 
Did you have a lipoma surgically removed?
It is normal for a wound to hurt after surgery so really, don't press on it!
You do not say when the surgery was. If more than a few months ago the wound should not still hurt, so I would go back to the doctor who did the surgery to re-evaluate.

Safer than u think: Normally a lipoma is not connected to a nerve, but it may compress one.  These are not dangerous, there are no nerves there that are likely to be seriously affected.

Yes, lipomas : Can be painful and tender.  But i would consider other things other than simple lipoma as a cause of the lump, especially if it is large or deep.  Show it to your doctor for specific advice.

Maybe cysts: Small lumps under the skin can represent lipomas or cysts. Neither are dangerous, but can be bothersome. There are no subtypes of lipoma, which is a benign fatty tumor. Hope this helps!

Lipomas that cause symptoms can be removed by a general surgeon. The method of removal is usually bedside but it depends on the size of the lipoma. Sometimes when the lipoma works its way into the muscle or connective tissue planes in your body, they need more invasive surgery rather than a simple bedside procedure. But it is still, generally a low risk surgery. Hope this helps

Near nerve: lipomas are benign fat lesions.  For the most part malignant transformation does not occur and lesions remain dormant in growth patterns and are unassociated with pain.  Should a benign lipoma grow to more than 10 cm., become painful and adhere to surrounding structures they need bx.  If smaller lipoma is painful, it is growing or associated with an adjacent sensory nerve.

It's : It's possible this is a lipoma or it could be something else like an abscess.  A lipoma is usually "mushy" and feels like a clump of fat under normal appearing skin while an abscess is usually red and hard.  Sometimes bumping a lipoma can feel like an electric shock while abscesses are usually painful all the time.

The only way to obtain a diagnosis is to see your physician.  Your physician may be able to remove the lipoma in their office using local anesthesia if it's about the size of a 50 cent-piece or smaller.

You may need an ultrasound of the area. Preferrably by a very knowledgeable doc.
