Stones: Non-obstructing stones in the kidney generally do not cause nausea or loss of appetite.  When passing a stone through the ureter, nausea and loss of appetite are quite common.

Kidney Stones : Blocking of the ureter by a stone, even temporarily, causes colic. This brings on pain in most, but, can also produce nausea and vomiting. If you do not have a full effect of vomiting from the stone, you may experience it's symptoms as a loss of appetite with some subsequent weight loss. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids to help it pass. Some sugar in your drink may help with weight loss.

: There is no direct relationship between renal colic and poor appetite unless you take pain pill, especially narcotic contained med, for renal colic. The indirect relationship is kidney stone and kidney failure which can be a cause of poor appetite; however, only can bilateral ureteral obstruction cause kidney failure in a short time which is quite rare.

i'm on alprim for a month to stop utis as i suffered from reoccurring ones. had kidney stones removed. i feel nauseated all the time no appetite weak?

Trimethoprim: This medication can produce the symptoms you are having, as can many other conditions. There are other forms of antibiotic prophylaxis that can be tried for UTI and you need to discuss this with the doctor treating you. Good luck.

Dose dependent: Amitriptyline's sedative effect is usually dose dependent. A lower dose may be better tolerated. Gradual titration of the dose upward may allow one to adjust to the side effects. Often they will diminish after taking it for a couple weeks. There are other meds for bladder dysfunction that cause less sedation. Meds that reduce urinary frequency also reduce emptying and may increase UTIs.

Get seen!: Kidney stone pain is horrible!  Go to an ER now and get help with the pain and help passing the stone.  Why suffer?

It is variable: The size of the stone is very important. The larger it is ,the less likely it will pass. If you have  severe pain or especially fever, you need to seek immediate medical attention.

Assuming: You have an obstructing stone your pain may have resolved by a phenomenon called forniceal rupture. In essence, the pressure from obstruction can cause part of the collecting system in the kidney to rupture in a small area and the urine collect around the kidney. The rupture makes the pain go away even though the stone didn't pass.

Talk to your: Urologist or family doc for pain medication. Also drink plenty if water.
